Quick couple of Qs
I'm not exactly new to GW, but I'm not very experienced with lingo and different stuff like that. I have a lvl20 Derv, which I want to continue further but have a few Qs first (these are general questions, not Derv specific really):
1. There are certain skills which are Kurzick/Luxon-specific. Do you HAVE to have Factions to obtain these skills? Even if you have a guild/guild hall with the Reps there? 2. I read something on a tip site about being able to craft Rare Materials with regular materials. How do you do this (if it is even possible)? 3. Last question: Any general tips on getting money? lol, I know this is an EXTREMELY broad question, however take note that I only have Proph/NF, and haven't finished either game on my main (derv), even so, if you give a specific mission/dungeon/whatever to farm, I will know what you are saying, however any general tips (other than farming I mean) would be helpful. 4. Lied! Stuff about armor: Runes/Insignias. Can you put a rune AND insignia on same armor piece? Can you put more runes on same? Can you stack same insignia effects on diff armor pieces? Stuff about Weapons: Blade/Hilt (for respectives): I've been to GWW, so I know what they are all, but just to clarfiy, you can have Inscription, Weapon piece and Def piece (example, SNH, Bowstring and Bow part all on same weapon for Ranger?) The rest are Dervish specific, so I will post in the correct forum. TY in advance! Last edited by WhirlingPsycho; Oct 19, 2009 at 03:57 AM // 03:57.. Reason: Forgot a question! |

1. see above
2. see above 3. Don't post asking for how to make money, it's against the rules. 4. Yes to the first part. No to the second part. The third part depends on what effects. Runes will only stack with the bonus on your headpiece, the best rune is the one used. For example you have a minor vigor, and a superior vigor, you gain the effects from the superior vigor, but the minor will not effect you. Insignia's that give health or energy bonuses stack. Insignia's that boost armour will boost the armour for that piece alone (Each piece of armour has a chance of being hit). Fourth part. Each weapon has: An inherent mod or inscription ("Strength and Honour", "+5E", etc.) A prefix mod (Vampiric, sundering, fiery, etc.) A suffix mod (Fortitude, Warding, etc.) |

Just going to clarify on the insignia part.
Essentially, they all work together. Unlike vigor runes, survivor (and radiant) insignia will stack and each will give the stated +health/energy amount. Armor works a bit differently. Armor level is not just all added up. When you get hit, you actually get hit in a specific area. There is a 3/8 chance of getting hit in the chest, a 2/8 chance of getting hit in the legs, and 1/8 chance of getting hit in the head, hands, or feet. Only the armor piece on the area you get has any effect on the damage you take. If you have a +10AL insignia on each piece of armor, you won't get +50AL, but you'll have +10AL regardless of where you get hit.

Other than farming and exploits (red resign), the usual ways to make money is simply to play the game. The drops will get more valuable as you progress through the game. As you quest, etc., pick up all of your drops and sell the junk to the merchant. Check for any usable mods and valuable skins on purple and gold weapons drops. Check armor drops for useable/valuable Runes and Insignias - often, the blue armor has the best mods, so check the prices at the rune trader.

Thanks for all the answers, that clears everything up.
Is there a post somewhere that shows the more "uncommon common" weapons that are somewhat common (not like Green weapons) that are still valuable? And is a site that auctions (like the forums here or GWA) legal? I remember seeing a post somewhere, but I do NOT remember where (for the uncommon common weapons). Again, thanks, and sorry about breaking the rules, I guess I should be more vigilante, as that's twice so far (in my life) I've broken unknown rules . . . Also, is there a price list for materials? Yet another question (thinking as I research stuff): Is there any max armor (as in 60/70/120) sets that can be found using traders instead of crafting it? There isn't such a list, not that I'm aware of. Your best bet is to keep an eye on threads in the Ventari Sell section of the forums and see what is popular. Or do a quick search when something drops for you.
Auctions and Trading Forums are legal as long as you're trading ingame items for ingame items. It is just another way for players to communicate. The rules aren't unknown, have a quick read through the Q&A forum rules and Frequently Asked Question For materials you're better to check the traders in-game if the price looks high then in general those materials are in demand (feathers, granite etc.) what you charge will be somewhere between the price to buy from the merchant and the price to sell to the merchant. Factions and Prophecies both have 'collector armour' check out the wiki page here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Collector_armor Last edited by bsoltan; Oct 19, 2009 at 09:07 PM // 21:07.. |

Unknown to me, I meant to say (as in, I didn't read them lol) And yeah, I found collector armor, too bad there is none for NF
Thanks though, that's pretty much all my questions. |
